M-Cee 's eclectic cultural heritage reflects the exciting mix which is common on her native Reunion Island, brought up in France since childhood, her love for music shaped her life. Over the years she has discovered that, more than just a passion, expressing her emotions through singing has become a vital need.
As a teenager she was a huge Motown fan ; her favorite pastime was singing songs by exceptional artists that she had learned by heart ( Stevie Wonder , Diana Ross , Lionnel Ritchie , to name a few...). During this period she also discovered the immense talent of Tina Turner , Whitney Houston , Brenda Russel : even as a teenager, she identified strongly with the world of Soul Music .
The day she finally got the courage to sing before a live audience marked the start of a unique adventure . Her close friends gave her the encouragement she needed to take the plunge, and little by little her musical commitment took on a more serious nature. This lead to her first gigs as backup and lead singer for various groups(Jazz-Soul and World Music).
In 1996 she met Laurence Apithy (pianist and artistic Director). This encounter marks a crucial turning point in M-Cee 's career, when she first started training as a professional artist . Her countless lead performances in numerous concerts - gospel, blues, jazz and soul - with the group " Soul System " have helped M-Cee discover and develop her true vocal identity and her sense of communication with the audience .
For 8 years her experience as a stage performer was rigorously tested and reinforced, singing at festivals, private parties, brunches and live concerts. This period is captured in the album " Les Voix Sacrees " (Flg Productions)
Today M-Cee performs solo, keeping in touch with her original musical influences(with an orientation towards jazz and soul ). Her extraordinary adventure continues, thanks to theme concerts(on Slavery in 2003-2004) shows that mix singing and theater and her composing work, which, at the end of 2005, will result in the recording of her first single solo and an album.
